Interview
WHY DID YOU BECOME A FERTILITY EXPERT?

I had a teacher in secondary school who made me love biology. I pursued that path and when I was studying at university, I came across the subject of reproductive biology. I already found the theory fascinating, but when I did my internship and saw live embryos and spermatozoa, that’s when I discovered my future and decided to specialise and train as an embryologist.

WHY ARE YOU PROUD TO WORK AT FERTTY?

From the day Fertty opened, I knew I wanted to be part of their team. The facilities are spectacular, it has an exceptional lab with the latest technology available to obtain the best results. The treatment offered to patients is exquisite, highly personalised and I love having contact with the patient. We are also a very united team and we all sing from the same sheet, seeking constant growth and innovating to achieve excellence.

WHAT IS YOUR ATTITUDE TO PATIENT MANAGEMENT?

My main premise is to provide the same treatment that I would like to receive. I mean, first of all, I like them to feel trusting and know that I am close at hand. They are pinning a lot of hope on us and they should feel supported. On the other hand, I like them to be informed at all times of every step that is done with their eggs, sperm or embryos. The entire process, from insemination to the moment the embryo transfer is performed, is lengthy and it takes place in the laboratory, a place they are unfamiliar with. That’s why I try to have a ongoing communication with them to be able to keep them informed of how their embryos are evolving, so that they know where we are and are able to clarify any doubts that may arise.

HAVE THERE BEEN PATIENTS WHO INSPIRE YOU?

All patients come with the same goal and the same eagerness. But on the other hand, each of them has a different story behind them that makes them unique. Their eyes reflect the desire for everything to go well, the restlessness, the nervousness… Even some tears of emotion when she sees the first image of her embryo. All this gives meaning to our work.

HOW DO YOU SPEND YOUR FREE TIME?

I really enjoy travelling, getting to know different cultures, new places… although I do it less than I would like to due to lack of time. I have been a high-performance athlete and I like to keep myself in shape, although these days in a less strenuous way. I am passionate about the sea, scuba diving and feeling free in the water. And, of course, I love spending time with my friends and family.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR PERSONALITY?

I am very demanding and responsible. Sport has given me a lot of discipline and perseverance in everything I do. I’m a bit shy, but when I’m in a familiar circle I’m cheerful and joking.
